The Fredericksburg High School ninth grade and junior varsity football teams traveled to Marble Falls last Thursday. Both teams walked away victorious over Marble Falls.

The freshman team picked up their first victory of the season last Thursday in Marble Falls.

They ousted Marble Falls, 31-8.

Yair Hernandez busted out a 60-yard run, setting up Harrison Langford for a 5-yard touchdown run in the first quarter.

Marco Suarez had a 5-yard touchdown run late in the period.

Defensively, the ninth-grade team did not allow a first down by Marble Falls in the first period.

In the second quarter, Langford connected with Alan Villa for a 50-yard touchdown pass. The extra point attempt was blocked.

Shortly before halftime, Langford rushed into the end zone on a 5-yard rush. The two-point conversion failed.

Fredericksburg built a 23-0 lead at halftime.

The last touchdown of the day came in the third quarter when Jaren Quay threw a 10-yard touchdown pass to Gage Bryant. The extra point was no good.

Victor Arteaga was named Player of the Week for the ninth-grade team by the coaching staff. Arteaga forced two fumbles and had one fumble recovery last week.

The junior varsity team outlasted Marble Falls, 21-14, Thursday evening.

The defense made big plays all night long.

Sophomore outside linebackers Tristan King and Kadin Kunz set the defensive tone throughout the game.

Cornerbacks Omar Neri and Michael Jung came up with some big run stops.

Linebackers Deacon Russell, Eli Quay and Calvin Grobe played well.

The defensive line of Wade Tucker, Cody Rivas, Jamison Dodes and Travis Propp all had good games.

Colton Wolfe did a great job at the free safety position, breaking up pass plays and making big run stops.

Offensively, Wolfe had a touchdown run in the second quarter.

Brooks Immel came into the game at quarterback and tossed a touchdown pass to King in the second period.

In the fourth period, Immel tossed a 40-yard touchdown pass to Quay.

The offensive line really showed improvement according to the coaching staff.

Offensive line coach, Gary Zeinert, has done a great job getting the kids to believe in themselves, according to the Fredericksburg High School coaching staff.

The offensive line consists of sophomores Jett Thomas, Wyatt Peters, Jackson Andrews, Chancis St. Pierre and Edward Hamilton.

Running backs Luke Harkleroad and Kunz ran the ball extremely well.

Edward Hamilton and Omar Neri were named Co-Players of the Week by the Fredericksburg High School coaching staff.
